Rheumatology is the study, diagnosis, and treatment
of arthritis and other painful conditions. Over one hundred different
diseases may produce pain or arthritis. The field of rheumatology
includes disorders of connective tissue disease such as rheumatoid
arthritis, lupus or scleroderma. Certain disorders of the muscle
or bone are also included such as osteoporosis, fibromyalgia and
polymyositis.
