Animal Bites
When a person is bitten by a domestic animal, there is a risk of developing an infection. Rabies can occur, but it is usually after a wild animal bite.
If your child is bitten:
- Wash the area with soap and water
- Apply triple antibiotic ointment and a bandage
- Check to see if the animals shots are up to date
- Check to see if your child has received a recent tetanus shot.
Call or make an appointment online if:
- The bite is more than a scratch
- Your child needs a tetanus shot
- The child was bitten by a wild animal
