Dr. Hey graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors from the University of Missouri at Columbia School of Medicine. He continued at the University of Missouri to complete his internal medicine residency and went to the University of Alabama at Birmingham for his Nephrology Fellowship. He also has a bachelor's of science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Missouri at Columbia. Dr. Hey is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine and Nephrology.
In January of 2010, Dr. Hey was voted Top Doc by his colleagues in a survey conducted by Arkansas Life Magazine.
