Dr. Meredith Mahan with Northwest Arkansas Pediatrics is a native of Natchez, Mississippi and received her medical training in New Orleans. She has decades of experience practicing pediatric medicine. She was a pediatrician in Memphis, Tennessee for four years before making Northwest Arkansas her home. She enjoys caring for children of all ages and medical problems, but is known by all as someone with a special heart for patients and families struggling with chronic conditions.
Dr. Mahan was voted as one of the Best Pediatricians by readers of AY Magazine in 2018. In 2015, she was named “Best Pediatrician” by the readers of Celebrate Magazine. Dr. Mahan has served on the Community Advisory Board for the Northwest Arkansas Junior League, is a Kappa Delta sorority alumni, and has taught Sunday school to Pre-K children at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. She serves on the Health Advisory Committee for Head Start of Northwest Arkansas.
When asked why she chose to practice pediatrics, she reflects on her love for the innocence and spontaneity of children and their need to be heard and validated, and refers to a quote she aspired to while in college – “let me live like a child in the sun.”
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Mahan is an avid reader and dog lover, and enjoys bookstores, beaches, Beaver Lake, hiking, and working in her yard. She is a traditional southern cook and especially likes Cajun food. She has a devotion to historic preservation, and is a member of the City of Fayetteville Historic District Commission.
