Kevin L. Pope, M.D. has provided imaging services in Northwest Arkansas for over 30 years. Dr. Pope, along with Dr. Danna Grear developed the first image-guided breast biopsy program in Northwest Arkansas in 1995. He and Dr. Grear founded The Breast Center, a MANA clinic, the first independent, dedicated breast center in Arkansas in 2003. Dr. Kevin Pope was voted as one of the Best Radiologists in Northwest Arkansas by the readers of AY Magazine and has also been selected by his fellow physicians for recognition as a member of Best Doctors in America®.  In 2018 he received the National Multiple Sclerosis Society HOPE Award for contributions to the field of neuroimaging early in his career.

Dr. Pope is an original member and active contributor to the Multidisciplinary Breast Conference at Washington Regional Medical Center since its inception in the 1990’s.   He was instrumental in the development of Arkansas Breast Cancer Specialists (ABCS), a non-profit group of physicians and other providers who participate regularly in the Breast Conference to promote quality care for newly diagnosed breast cancer patients in the area.  Dr. Pope served as the first program director for the ABCS group which has been accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers since 2016.

Dr. Pope was a leader in developing the first automated whole breast ultrasound screening program in Arkansas at The Breast Center.  He also played a key role in the development of a hereditary breast cancer risk assessment program in the outpatient breast center setting, the first of its kind in Arkansas.  With a passion for continuous quality improvement, he served as the lead physician in achieving accreditation of The Breast Center as a Breast Center Imaging Center of Excellence awarded by the American College of Radiology.

Dr. Pope is often a featured speaker on breast imaging and early cancer detection for special interest groups in the community and medical field. In the fall of 2008, Dr. Pope traveled to Romania to lead a conference on breast care and early detection of breast cancer for the country’s physicians and medical staff. At the conference, he conducted a series of lectures, hands-on workshops on needle biopsy, and an ultrasound workshop with live models. Since that trip, he and Sarah Faitak, RN, Clinic Manager for The Breast Center, have sponsored several Romanian physicians in Northwest Arkansas to train and learn about new breast cancer technologies. As a member of the National Consortium of Breast Centers, Dr. Pope has been involved in international outreach to improve breast care worldwide, hosting visiting physicians from Senegal and Nepal.

He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Hope Cancer Resources, a local non-profit organization providing assistance and services to Northwest Arkansas cancer patients.

When not working at the Breast Center, Dr. Pope enjoys attending Razorback sporting events with his wife Karen, traveling, listening to music of all kinds and reading, particularly history topics.  Spending time with his children and grandchildren at the beach each summer is his highlight of the year!
