New Tech Treats Depression Fast

People with Major Depressive Disorder now are able to access a highly successful, innovative treatment that only takes a short amount of time to produce big results. With Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Therapy, patients at NWA Psychiatry can receive fast treatment for major depression without medication, pain, or side effects.

“I feel like I am me again,” said one young woman who completed TMS Therapy. “I am so grateful to NWA Psychiatry for bringing this therapy to NWA.”

Although NWA Psychiatry has used TMS successfully for two years, Drs. Lance Foster and Randall Staley recently upgraded to a new machine so patients can receive treatment faster and get back to life. Sessions now are much shorter, usually requiring only 5 to 20 minutes.

TMS is a safe and effective non-invasive treatment for depression that uses magnetic pulses to stimulate activity in areas of the brain that control mood. This targeted approach lets the brain practice actions that are much like having positive thoughts. TMS therapy is approved by the FDA specifically for people with Major Depressive Disorder who don’t respond well to antidepressant medication or psychotherapy.
