Susan G. Komen Ozark Recognizes MANA Breast Center as Top Fundraiser

MANA Breast Center team members Britton Lott, MD; Michelle Keck; Carole Masterson; Kelly Johnson, MD; Clinic Director Sarah Faitak, RN; and Danna Grear, MD, received the award from Susan G. Komen for the Cure Ozark Affiliate Executive Director Lauren Marquette.

On Wednesday, March 29, 2017, the MANA Breast Center team was recognized as the Top Healthcare Fundraising Team for 2016 Race for the Cure at the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Promise Circle Luncheon.

Despite a fire relocating their main office and two subsequent moves, the physicians and staff at MANA raised $7,000 for Susan G. Komen for the Cure Ozark! The staff held bake sales, used book sales, organized wear pink days throughout MANA’s locations, hosted raffles with items from crafty staff members, and organized a large garage sale.

According to the team captains, their biggest fundraiser was a smoked Pork Butt sale on Race day and Easter Weekend. “We sold almost a hundred pork butts to our friends and coworkers!” said Michelle Keck, a Mammogram Technologist and one of the creative team captains. Their theme, Fired up for a Cure, found humor in their tragedy that brought the team closer together. On race day, the team wore pink fire hats and Fired up for the Cure shirts.

“We see patients receiving the benefits of Komen grants several times each week at The Breast Center and we are so thankful for their support in our community,” said Morgan Ludwick, a nurse at The Breast Center.

This year the team is selling a special chocolate bar, from local bean-to-bar chocolatier, Kyya Chocolate, called The MammoGraham at The Breast Center locations in Fayetteville and Bentonville. The MammoGraham features Kyya’s hand formed dark chocolate, sea salt and bits of graham cracker and is $6 a bar. All proceeds go to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Ozark Affiliate.
